I attended this school for six months. I woke up every day excited to go to school and study Japanese.

The teachers were very nice and patient, and could easily tell when a student was falling behind or if they didn't fully understand something. I struggled at the beginning due to not knowing any Japanese and starting three weeks late, but I quickly caught up thanks to the teaching skills of my teachers and the quality of the lessons.

They talk exclusively in Japanese, but this serves to bolster the learning experience rather than hurting it. Not understanding what someone is saying in Japanese (or finding it difficult) is just part of the journey of learning a language, and it's best to start this journey sooner rather than later. They also have English speaking staff to help with important matters.

I was put in a rather challenging class full of students with bad learning habits, such as copying other people's tests, speaking while the teacher is talking, and deciding to "survive" until the next lesson rather than trying to understand the material. Despite this, it didn't affect my learning ability at all, the teachers persevered and delivered a great learning experience, which was both enjoyable and valuable.

I think my experience was rather rare, but if you do end up getting a class like mine:

Don't copy other people's work, you're only cheating yourself.

Pay attention to the teacher, everything they say is valuable.

If you don't understand something, guess, get it wrong and find out why rather than just correcting it and moving on. Not knowing and learning will always be more valuable than pretending to know.

Thank you to everyone who supported me at the school for the 6 months I attended. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I will miss you all.

I had a fantastic time at Shinjuku Gyoen Language School. I felt at home from my very first day because of the kindness of my teachers and classmates. The teachers are enthusiastic about teaching, which made me look forward to class each day. I also really enjoyed getting to know my classmates from lots of different countries. This school provides a really unique opportunity to meet people from all over the world, and being able to converse in Japanese daily is a really great way to improve your language skills. I will truly cherish the memories I made at Shinjuku Gyoen Gakuin, and I really encourage anyone who would like to come to Japan and learn Japanese in a supportive environment to consider this school.

I did an intensive, week long course when I arrived in Tokyo. Two hours a day privately. The teacher was incredible, went at the pace I needed and provided all the resources necessary. I will definitely be back in my next visit to Tokyo.
All of the staff were welcoming and made me feel comfortable from my first day. They adapt to what you need, and take the time to understand your goals.
You'll also get great recommendations from everyone for how and where to spend your time. It's worth every penny and you won't regret signing up ?
I only wish I had more time for more classes

If you are a Vietnamese student wishing to find a job in Japan, this is the place for you. If you are someone from other countries trying to enter a good academic program, or if your Japanese level is above N2, DO NOT COME.

This school’s administratives have a hard time keeping high-level teachers who are competent enough to teach students who are at N2 or higher levels of Japanese.

I came here with a N1 already but instead of telling me that this school will be too easy for me, they took me in so I had to endure the low-quality courses (N3 level basically) while having trouble communicating with my Vietnamese peers.

Frankly I made some good English- speaking friends here that I still contact after leaving the school, but I did waste a lot of time and money which I could have spent elsewhere to actually learn stuff.
