I am a tenured professor who started teaching study abroad programs more than 20 years ago. On four occasions I directed a program in Sorrento working closely with the Sant'Anna Institute. The last time was in the summer of 2022, when the highest ranking administrators in the institute treated me with more disrespect, manipulation, and incompetence than I have ever observed in a study abroad situation. I have taught these programs for 3 different universities in three different Italian cities, so I do have a solid frame of reference. While I had several troubling concerns, the main problem was that they placed us in housing owned by the most unprofessional, offensive, arrogant, and (at times) aggressively rude landlady in town. The quality of the services we received was abysmally inconsistent, even once putting the physical health and well-being of my students at risk. I will never again take a group of students to Sorrento as long as the Sant'Anna institute remains in business, and if you care about the safety and physical/mental health of your students you should do the same. My advice is to find a less expensive venue with a different third party provider. (Salerno is an excellent alternative, for example).

I just came back from my wonderful vacation in Sorrento! I stayed there two weeks studying Italian at the Sant'Anna Institute. It was a wonderful experience! Sant'Anna Institute not only offers Italian Language courses in the morning, they also organize a lot of cultural activities. I took part in a cooking class and it was amazing. The lesson took place in a cooking school in Sorrento and we learned to prepare fresh Italian pasta and pizza. The teacher was so helpful and funny.
I am completely satisfied: Sant'Anna Institute's staff and teachers are professional, helpful and always smiling; they guide the students in the discovery of Italian Culture, pushing you to immerse yourself in it.

Sant'Anna is the best school that I do recomand every american students to do their study abroad at. It very nice and the teachers are very friendly, respecful, helpful and responsible. I did my 7 weeks study abroad there and it was a nice experience.

Elena: "I thought the course was well organized and allowed plenty of opportunity to speak the language and learn the history of Sorrento and the surrounding cities. It was a good experience, I wouldn't change a thing. Everyone was great. No improvements necessary, great job. All the teachers and staff were very nice and helpful. Nice job. My host mother was kind, she spoke and fed me. Also, she seemed genuinely concerned with my well-being. Overall, it was a great experience. It was a wonderful experience. In the future, I would like to stay longer and arrive in the summer."
