Beautiful school, I enjoyed my 4 years here. The teachers are cool and there are plenty of ap classes. Idk if it's changed since I graduated in 2011, but when I was there it was actually a cool place to go to school. It has no school spirit. but maybe that's due to the football team never winning.

Pretty Good school so far. I'm a freshman at this school by the way. So far i'm participating in a Floral Class and it's very good. My other teachers seem pretty decent. I am however giving it Four stars instead of Five because the minority of students i'm with are disrespectful and are ruining my focus. Those children need to learn some Discipline and they should get Detention or something.. Anyways hope i have a good 9th Grade Year!

This school has made a huge turn around. The dean really cracked down on the "wanna be gang members" and made it a safe campus. The teachers are great(Ms. Molina!!! Mr. Kayne, Mr. Peterson, Mr. Kirkpatrick, Ms. . . Can't believe I forgot her name already but she is a great stats teacher "Math Party!" as she would say), everyone that I had cared. If you go to school to receive an education, you'll get just that. Class of '11

ms furhman is the most cancer teacher ive ever had the displeasure of meeting in my entire 18 years of existence. otherwise, the teachers are ok. the students here tend to be very disrespectful and rude but theyre mainly focused in the residential school, not the magnet programs. the education here is of good quality but can slip down somewhat with some teachers like the one mentioned above. ive enjoyed my years here but it couldve been better by wide margin.

Moved to van nuys from Chicago when i was 15 in 1980 it was a complete culture shock first time i ever met surfer kids or low riders there were so many different types of kids new wave punk rockers couldn't tell the difference it looked like the bar seen from star wars. i only spent a few years there but i felt like i had moved to the other side of the planet. So different from school in Chicago

i dont recommend taking jrotc program at van nuys hs next 2-4 years. my child and some of his friends had to drop jrotc class because they had an unpleasant experience with the rotc teacher. one of the reasons they wanted to drop the class was that the teacher has a daughter who is taking his class.

they had observed teacher's favoritisms to his daughter. they were disappointed and discouraged.

Van Nuys is a center of delinquency and drug abuse. The non magnet students are known for their low test scores and their high usage of illegal substances. The staff is somewhat of a joke. The various offices, such as the Magnet Office and the Counseling Office, are so inefficient it is faster to mail something to the other side of the world than to wait for them to accomplish anything. Going to Van Nuys High School for four years has left me feeling no urge to have a reunion with my class or ever set foot on the campus again.

I tried but could never finish..and the teachers really tried with me...I even went to night school..but I ended up pregnant and then her dad died Jesse Villicana..and that's history.. VanNuys junior and High school were the best schools for me ..cause i had been all over the valley moving around...I'm 52 years old I'm white and I use to hang out with the low riders..so if your grandma or grandpa came here maybe I know them I would like to say ..they were all the friends I had in CA...I live in Mo been here since I lost Jesse.. Anyway a great school..

Go up
